MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (VGTRK) plans to attract 1,300 readers from 30 of the world’s cities in celebration of the Year of Literature in Russia, declared by President Vladimir Putin.
Lovers of the seminal Russian classic from Moscow to Washington, Paris, Beijing and other cities are invited to take part in the marathon reading by going to the voinaimir.com website and qualifying for the historic event.
There, booklovers in Berlin, Vienna, St. Petersburg 16 other Russian cities are told to film themselves reading fragments from the novel and fill out an application before November 15.
The marathon reading will be aired live across VGTRK’s platforms as well as online for 60 hours straight on December 8-11. One volume of the novel will be read per day.
