BANGKOK (Sputnik) — According to the agency, the bomb planted under the road in the Sai Buri district of the Pattani province hit a military patrol vehicle.
When police and additional troops arrived at the scene, a second explosion took place. No one was injured in the second blast, the Thai command said.
Investigators report that they believe the bomb was planted by local separatist Muslim militants.
Since January 2004, a separatist insurgency in southern Thailand near the Malaysian border has caused over 6,500 deaths, most of them civilian.
