A delegation from the Russian Helicopters company is scheduled to visit South Korea on Monday to discuss the technical maintenance of Russian-built Ka-32 helicopters with South Korea's LG International corporation, the aircraft manufacturer said.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia has supplied South Korea with over 60 Ka-32 helicopters, including to the Armed Forces, Forest Aviation Headquarters, and the country's coastguard, since 1993.

The helicopters are used for firefighting, search-and-rescue operations, as well as patrolling South Korea’s inshore waters. Commercial operators use the aircraft for cargo transportation, construction work, logging and other tasks.

South Korean police deploys the Mi-171A2 helicopter of the Mi-8/17 series, the only aircraft in the police fleet able to fly over the sea for distances of up to 155 miles.

South Korea has two service centers for Russian-built helicopters, one at LG International and another at Forest Aviation Headquarters.

The Russian company is also set to hold talks with representatives of South Korea's Forest Aviation Headquarters, responsible for protecting properties from natural disasters and accidents, as well as meeting with operating companies Heli Korea and UI Helicopters as part of a two-day trip to the country, according to a press release.
