If the Syrian army manages to preserve its integrity and maintain its number of active troops, by the end of the conflict it would become the major power in the Middle East, according to the Independent.
The Syrian military was badly in need of servicemen and weapons couple of months ago, now has assumed the offensive. Russian involvement was the game-changer for the situation, allowing the Syrian forces to move on to the offensive in a short period of time.
And now the state of affairs is so that if Assad’s forces win that war, they will come out of the conflict as the most battle-hardened and experienced Arab army in the whole Middle East.
“Woe betides any of its [Syria] neighbors who forget this,” the author concluded.
