LONDON (Sputnik) – Three neighbourhoods in central London were left without electricity on Wednesday night, UK Power Networks reports.
"Our engineers are working hard to fix it as quickly as possible. We are sorry for any trouble this may have caused you," UK Power Networks said on its website.
The power outage occurred in Soho, Covent Garden and Leicester Square at around 8 p. m. local time (19:00 GMT) on Wednesday, The London Evening Standard newspaper said citing a UK Power Networks spokesman.
According to the spokesman, power was restored by 10 p. m.
The London Evening Standard said that over 1,300 properties in London were affected by the power cut.
UK Power Networks is Britain’s largest power network, covering South East England, East of England and London. The distribution network operator is responsible for delivering electricity to 7.8 million homes and businesses in the British capital, according to the UK Power Networks website.
