MOSCOW (Sputnik) – According to Handelsblatt Business Monitor, only 4 percent of German managers believe their country can cope with one million refugees, while some 73 percent of those polled said Germany would reach its capacity limits after accepting 500,000 refugees annually.
A vast majority of business people surveyed said Merkel was placing the concerns of German citizens below those of refugees, according to the poll.
Germany, a main destination for many asylum seekers fleeing conflict-torn regions of the Middle East and North Africa, is projected to take in up to 1.5 million refugees by the end of the year.
Merkel has been subject to criticism from representatives of various German political parties over Berlin's decision to take in high numbers of migrants.
Earlier in October, a poll by the German ARD broadcaster revealed Merkel's generous immigration policies had eroded her approval rating to a four-year low.
