PARIS (Sputnik) — The Russian Embassy in France is ascertaining whether any Russians were among the passengers of the bus that crashed into a truck in southwestern France, the embassy’s press service said Friday.
"Our colleagues are actively working with the French side to clarify this issue, but we have no other information at the moment," the press service told RIA Novosti.
Local media reported that the vehicles were traveling along a narrow road near the French city of Bordeaux, when they collided and burst into flames at around 7:30 a.m. local time (05:30 GMT) on Friday.
Over 40 people have reportedly died in the crash. Only eight people managed to escape, five of whom are injured, according to media reports.
