MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A car crashing into a crowd at Oklahoma’s parade claimed the lives of 3 people and injured some 22, local police reported Saturday.
"This morning, near the conclusion of the Homecoming Day Parade, we had a traffic collision involving one car… that struck a crowd of people. At this point, there are three confirmed fatalities," Captain Kyle Gibbs of the Stillwater Police Department said in a press conference, as broadcast by the News on 6 television channel.
Gibbs added that 22 people were wounded in the incident, including eight people in critical condition.
The woman driving the vehicle, identified as Adacia Chambers, was arrested at the scene for driving under the influence.
An investigation into causes of the crash has been launched, police said.
