MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Dozens of activists including the ones from Black Lives Matter movement marched through the city to the venue of a conference with the International Association of Chiefs of Police. After the protesters came to the location of the event, several of them tried to enter the building and the other group of activists started a sit-in in the city.
“Police have not confirmed any arrests, but several people were led from the protest in handcuffs,” NBC Chicago reported Saturday.
NBC's report is supported with numerous photos and videos of detentions that were published on social media afterwards.
The Black Lives Matter movement was established after Ferguson, Missouri police shot dead African-American teenager Trayvon Martin in Florida in July 2013. It has become a political force in the United States since.
Over the past year, the United States has seen numerous protests following high-profile cases of police brutality around the country. The incidents have set off mass protests around the country and triggered a national debate about racial inequality and police violence in African-American communities.
