The election of the Law and Justice Party led by former Polish Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski in Poland will lead to major changes in the country’s foreign policy, including the aggravation of relations between Russia and Poland, Political Analyst Mateusz Piskorski told Radio Sputnik.

The already-strained relations between Poland and Russia will get worse, said Piskorski, who is the head of the Warsaw-based European Center for Geopolitical Analysis.

"We can expect only worsening of the Polish-Russian relations and we can expect even more aggressive rhetoric [on behalf of Poland]," Piskorski told Sputnik.

The Law and Justice Party is heavily in favor of the increased presence of US troops in Poland and is also keen on removing all Soviet monuments from the country. In its attitude towards Russia, the new Polish government is akin to US neoconservatives, especially when it comes to military and defense policies, the expert explained, adding that Washington's influence in Warsaw will increase significantly.

Piskorski added that in addition to the strong anti-Russian stance, the Law and Justice is a eurosceptic party which would take a tougher stance towards the European Union (EU), especially amid the ongoing refugee crisis in Europe.

Poland will change its relations with Germany, particularly amidst the ongoing refugee crisis in Europe. The Law and Justice already said that it won't observe any EU regulations when comes to accommodating Middle Eastern refugees.

"We'll [Poland] have a lot of conflicts and aggressive rhetoric in the foreign policy of Poland. It will definitely influence the image of Poland on the international level," Piskorski told Sputnik.

The election results weren't a surprise, as it was clear a long time ago that Kaczynski's party gained widespread popularity among Polish voters.

The eurosceptic Law and Justice party led by former Polish Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski is set to win parliamentary elections with 39.1% of votes, according to exit poll data published on Sunday.

The Civil Platform led by incumbent Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz has gained 23.4% of votes, according to the poll.

According to the State Electoral Commission, the information of the parties that succeeded in clearing the threshold is expected to be revealed on Monday evening, while the official results of the elections are expected to be announced on Tuesday.
