WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The release said:
“In Iraq, coalition military forces conducted 14 strikes coordinated with and in support of the Government of Iraq using bomber, fighter, and attack aircraft against ISIL [Islamic State] targets.”
The Tuesday’s airstrikes were launched near six Iraqi cities to the north and west of Baghdad, including Ramadi and Sinjar. The strikes hit IS tactical units, fighting positions and machine guns, as well as other infrastructure targets.
The US-led coalition carried out no airstrikes in Syria on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Russia continues its airstrikes campaign against the Islamic State in Syria that started on September 30 at the request of Syrian President Bashar Assad.
The Russian Defense Ministry said Wednesday aircraft from the Russian air group deployed in Syria carried out 71 combat missions in the past 24 hours hitting 118 terrorist targets in six provinces.
