WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – Scott Kelly and Kjell Lindgren are scheduled to venture outside the ISS for 6.5-hour works at around 10:30 GMT. The two will be assisted by Japanese astronaut Kimiya Yui on board the station.
Kelly and Lindgren are expected to install a thermal cover on a particle physics detector attached to the station since 2011, known as the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer.
They are scheduled to perform a second spacewalk on November 6.
In addition to Kelly, Lindgren and Yui, the ISS is crewed by Russian cosmonauts Mikhail Korniyenko, Oleg Kononeko and Sergey Volkov as part of Expedition 45.
