KAZAN (Sputnik) — Russia and Germany should overcome their differences through joint projects, speaker of the upper house of Russian parliament Valentina Matvienko said Friday.
On Thursday, the seventh Russian-German young leaders’ conference opened in Kazan. The conference is held annually in both Germany and Russia.
"Subsequently, ill-judged political actions can destroy decades-long built partnerships and friendly relations and can seriously damage Europe’s future. Therefore, it is necessary to combine our efforts to overcome disputes between Russia and Germany. And it can be achieved only through joint projects," Matvienko said in an address to the conference.
Over 300 young leaders discussed key trends in the energy sector, the outlook for and opportunities offered by a common European economic space, the intersection of old and new economies, as well as the development potential of Russia-Germany relations.
