The United States has changed its stance on the settlement of the crisis in Syria, and is no longer calling for the immediate resignation of President Bashar Assad.

White House officials have already discussed a resolution with allies such as Turkey which would permit Assad to remain the leader of Syria for several months or even more after a ceasefire is achieved, according to Wall Street Journal.
