Russian Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov will hold on Sunday the first meeting of the government commission established to assist the victims and families of those who died in the Airbus-321 crash in the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt, Vice Governor of St. Petersburg Igor Albin said.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev ordered to set up the commission just hours after the crash.

Investigative Commission on Russian Plane Crash to Cooperate With Egypt

November 1 was announced as national day of mourning.

"At 1:00 a.m. [22:00 GMT] meeting of the commission chaired by by Maxim Sokolov in video mode will be held," Albin stated.

On Saturday, the Russian airliner, carrying 217 passengers and seven crew members crashed in the Sinai Peninsula en route from the Egyptian resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh to St. Petersburg. All people on board were confirmed dead by Russian and Egyptian authorities.

A number of international leaders have expressed their condolences to Russia and victims' relatives.
