MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russia and France have the potential for the development of partnership in the field of geothermal and nuclear power, France's Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy Segolene Royal said Saturday.

“France and Russia have opportunities to develop partnership in the field of geothermal energy, including using satellite surveillance and electricity storage…,” Royal said in an interview with Sergey Brilev on Vesti v Subbotu (Saturday News) show.

Royal also noted that France had already decided to abandon coal as the source of energy and expressed hope that Russia would do the same.
