On Friday, Derrick Gharabighi, pled “no contest” to elder abuse in a Los Angeles courtroom. He was shopping in a grocery store in Burbank, California, and was enjoying free waffle samples, some of which featured Nutella, the European chocolate-hazelnut spread.
An unnamed 78-year-old man complained that Gharabighi had taken too many of the Nutella waffles. According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Gharabighi responded by punching him in the face.
The victim was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries. Gharabighi faces up to two years in prison but will not be sentenced until next year.
