MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The wreckage of flight 9268 in Egypt suggests that the Russian passenger jet disintegrated at a high altitude, head of the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) said Sunday.
“All signs indicate that the destruction of the aircraft structure occurred in air at a high altitude,” Alexander Neradko told the Rossiya-24 broadcaster.
Neradko said the Airbus A321 debris scattered across an “elongated ellipsis” of 3 miles in length across 2.5 miles in width.
The Kogalymavia aircraft crashed in the northern Sinai Peninsula early Saturday shortly after takeoff from the Sharm El-Sheikh resort to St. Petersburg.
