Kalashnikov Concern Boosts Arms Sales to Asia-Pacific Region in 2015

In 2015 the Kalashnikov Concern increased ninefold sales of its firearms for the civilian market in Asian-Pacific region compared to 2014.

BANGKOK (Sputnik) — The Kalashnikov Concern, a Russian small arms manufacturer, increased ninefold in 2015 sales of its firearms for the civilian market in Asian-Pacific region compared to 2014, Kalashnikov CEO Alexei Krivoruchko said Monday.

“Over the nine months of 2015, the deliveries of civilian firearms [to the Asian-Pacific region] increased almost ninefold in absolute terms and fivefold in money terms in comparison with entire year 2014,” Krivoruchko told RIA Novosti on the sidelines of the “Defense & Security – 2015” international defense and internal security exhibition.

He added that the arms manufacturer plans to double its sales to the region in 2016.

The Kalashnikov Concern was created in 2013 in the merger of two Soviet-era plants, Izhmash and Izhevsk Mechanical Plant, becoming Russia’s largest producer of rifles and other weaponry.

The company sells civilian firearms and combat weapons in over 20 countries, including in Europe, Africa and Asia.

On November 2-5, “Defense & Security – 2015” exhibition is being held in the Thai capital of Bangkok. The Kalashnikov Concern is offering some 20 different weapon models for sale at the exhibition.
