MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The airliner’s Airbus A321 crashed in northern Sinai en route from an Egyptian resort to St. Petersburg early Saturday, killing all 224 people on board.
"Of course, at a time when an investigation is still unfolding, putting forward anything on an official level does not present itself as possible," Peskov said at the daily press briefing.
Peskov relayed Russian President Vladimir Putin’s orders for emergencies and health ministries to provide immediate medical and financial assistance to the relatives of flight K79268 victims, as well as to facilitate the ongoing probe.
"The rest is interacting with Egyptian authorities in conducting the investigation," the Kremlin spokesman stated.
The Interstate Aviation Committee said in a statement published Monday that Egyptian aviation authorities are the sole source of information on the current investigation. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi said earlier the probe may take months to conclude.
The Kogalymavia tragedy is the largest civil aviation disaster in Russian and Soviet history.
