About half an hour later, members of a sailing club enjoying the sunny day onboard their vessel, spotted a strange object far away from dry land. When they got closer to it, there was no end to their astonishment: it was a puppy struggling to stay afloat. Despite high waves, sailors managed to approach exhausted animal and get him out of the cold water. Just one question was troubling rescuers on their way home: how could a small puppy get there?

Later the sailors learned that the crew of a ferry heading from Naples to Ischia refused to stop once the pet’s owner Mario Di Meglio reported the dog missing. They eventually returned Noodle to Di Meglio safe and sound.
