MANAMA (Sputnik) — Bahraini police arrested 47 people suspected of plotting a number of terrorist attacks in the kingdom in the coming days, the country's interior ministry said Wednesday.
"They were preparing to carry out terrorist acts to undermine security in the kingdom," the ministry's press service told RIA Novosti.
Police discovered several hiding places with explosives and firearms and an underground workshop for explosives manufacturing during the counter-terrorism operation, the ministry said.
The news come amid escalated tension between Bahrain and Iran.
