We have heard countless times Washington's top officials compare Russia to Ebola (and even IS), accusing Moscow of a non-existent invasion of Ukraine and malicious (non-existent) plans to take over the Baltic states using omnipresent sullen "little green men," US author and syndicated columnist Stephen Lendman underscores.
"Big Lies repeated ad nauseam get most people to believe them. Propaganda wars rage because they work," Lendman stressed.
And here we go again: on Monday, addressing the Defense One summit in Washington, Army Chief of Staff General Mark Milley again repeated the "Russian threat" mantra.
"So Russia bears close watching and that is why I said they are the number one threat to the United States," Milley warned gloomily.
Meanwhile, the Pentagon and NATO have kicked off Trident Juncture exercises.
"They're NATO's largest since 2002, involving around 35,000 troops, over 140 aircraft and 60 naval vessels from 30 participating countries — a major anti-Russian provocation, unrelated to protecting European security as claimed," Lendman emphasized.
During the recent NATO conference devoted to the event another US military official, General Alexander Vershbow, claimed that Russia is protecting Syrian President al-Assad instead of fighting the Islamic State.
And again it was just a part of the same Big Lie that is being currently spread by US warhawks, the columnist remarked.
"Congrats, citizen, you done lied!" as one of Mikhail Bulgakov's characters once said.
Lendman pointed to the fact that instead of eliminating ISIL targets, US war planes, inexplicably, have repeatedly bombed infrastructure and other government facilities in Syria and Iraq, at the same time supplying heavy weapons to terrorists on the ground.
"Russia is waging real war on ISIS [ISIL] and other terrorist groups. It supports Syria's sovereign independence and right of its people to decide who'll lead them," the columnist emphasized.
On the other hand, "Washington's agenda is polar opposite, raping and destroying another country it wants dominion over, responsible for millions of deaths and vast destruction post-9/11 alone," he added.
While assuring the public that NATO's main aim is "collective defense," Vershbow lied again, according to Lendman.
"Naked aggression is Washington's main strategy to achieve unchallenged global dominance, ravaging one country after another, recklessly confronting Russia and China, risking nuclear war if not stopped," he stressed.
