Ukraine’s civil aviation authority is considering granting its Antonov aircraft maker access to the inquiry into Wednesday’s crash of an Uzbekistan-built Antonov An-12 cargo plane in South Sudan, the manufacturer said.

KIEV (Sputnik) — The plane went down earlier on Wednesday close to South Sudan's capital of Juba, killing dozens of people both aboard and on the ground. Thirty-six bodies have been retrieved.

"Ukraine’s aviation authority will decide on the participation of the Antonov state enterprise in the investigation into this air crash," the company's press service told RIA Novosti.

It added that South Sudan was to officially notify Ukraine’s State Aviation Administration or its National Bureau of Air Accidents Investigation about the crash as stipulated in the rules of the International Civil Aviation Administration (ICAO).

The crashed plane was assembled in 1971 in Uzbekistan’s capital city of Tashkent.
