MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Wednesday, the UK government banned all flights to and from the Egyptian city and introduced additional security measures amid concerns a Russian passenger plane may have been brought down by a bomb.
"All flights will only be permitted to operate with specific security arrangements in place set down by the UK Government. This includes that no hold luggage will be permitted on these flights. easyJet passengers will only be permitted to travel with cabin baggage which must be the size of a laptop bag or smaller," EasyJet said in a statement.
The airline confirmed it will operate 10 flights back to the United Kingdom from Sharm el-Sheikh on Friday.
The Airbus A321 crashed en route from Sharm el-Sheikh to St. Petersburg on Saturday, killing all 224 people on board. The catastrophe is the largest in civil aviation in Russian and Soviet history.
