MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Free Syrian Army representatives are in talks on holding a meeting with a Russian delegation, a political adviser with the group told Sputnik on Thursday.
"There is coordination underway on planning [the meeting], and we are waiting for them to cease airstrikes, so that we are able to assemble a delegation and hold a meeting," Suyuf al-Haqq Abu Jad said.
According to Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, Moscow is holding talks on a daily basis with "almost the whole spectrum" of the Syrian opposition factions as part of a reconciliation process in the country.
Russia has been assisting both the government and civilians in the war-torn Syria. Since September 30, Moscow has been conducting airstrikes on terrorist positions in the Middle Eastern country.
Moscow served as a host city for two rounds of talks between the Syrian leadership and the country's opposition, and has been holding intensive talks and meetings with a broad range of Syrian opposition factions.
Last week, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Moscow was in favor of the Free Syrian Army's participation in the Syrian reconciliation talks.
