WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The United States has not excluded the possibility of a terrorist attack on the Russian airliner, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said in a briefing on Thursday.
“At this point, the United States has not made our own determination about the cause of the incident,” Earnest said. “However, we can’t rule anything out, including the possibility of terrorist involvement.”
On Wednesday, the UK government said there were concerns the Russian passenger plane might have been downed by a bomb and suspended all flights to and from Sharm el-Sheikh airport, as well as ordered additional security measures.
Earlier in the day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said it was premature to point out a specific theory of what might have caused the crash.
