"Every country in the world is exposed to corruption, and I really do not think it is correct to imply that there is corruption only in developing countries — every country in the world is facing corruption risk," Pesme said on the sidelines of the UN anti-corruption conference.
The sixth session of the Conference of the States Parties to the UN Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) brought together delegations from member states, inter-governmental organizations, civil society and the private sector in the Russian city of St. Petersburg between November 2 and November 6.
The UN Convention against Corruption is the first legally binding, globally recognized tool to counter bribe-taking. It was adopted by the UN General Assembly on October 31, 2003 and entered into force in December 14, 2005.
