There were no discussion about strengthening security measures at German airports after the Russian A321 plane crash, according to federal police spokesperson.

BERLIN (Sputnik) — The security measures in place at German airports will not be enhanced in response to the Russian A321 plane crash, a federal police spokesperson said Friday.

"There has been no discussion about strengthening security measures at airports," the spokesperson told RIA Novosti, adding that no such initiative has been brought up as yet.

The largest civil aviation catastrophe in Russian and Soviet history took place on Saturday when the Airbus A321 crashed en route from Sharm el-Sheikh to St. Petersburg, killing all 224 people on board.

On Wednesday, the UK government banned all flights between the Egyptian resort city and airports in the United Kingdom and introduced additional security measures due to fears that the crashed Russian A321 passenger plane may have been brought down by a bomb.
