RIGA (Sputnik) — Two rescue flights brought 270 holidaymakers to the Riga airport on Saturday and Sunday, after AirBaltic suspended flights for two days on Thursday over security concerns.
A Russian passenger plane crashed in Egypt’s Sinai desert soon after its take-off at the Sharm el-Sheikh airport on October 31, killing all 224 people on board.
Fears are that the airliner was brought down by a bomb planted in its hold, according to numerous media reports citing UK and US intelligence.
A total of 460 Latvian tourists were stranded in Egypt after the crash triggered a wave of flight suspensions to and from the country. Of those, 270 were staying in Sharm el-Sheikh and 190 in Hurghada.
