LATAKIA (Syria), (Sputnik) — According to Mayhoub, dozens of vehicles belonging to terrorists to the south of Aleppo, as well as ammunition warehouses in Idlib were also destroyed by the Syrian Air Force.
"Within the last three days the Syrian Air Force made 98 sorties, attacking terrorist units, command posts in the provinces of Hama, Homs, Idlib, Aleppo, Deir ez-Zor, Rakka, as well as in the Damascus district. Five fortified positions and three command posts were destroyed," Brig. Gen. Ali Mayhoub said on Monday.
In October 2015, the Syrian army, with support of Russian aircraft deployed in Syria at the request of Syrian President Bashar Assad, started a military operation, trying to free territories controlled by the Islamic State and the Nusra Front militants.
Syria has been engulfed in a civil war since 2011, as Syrian government forces fight opposition factions and extremist groups, including ISIL and the Nusra Front.
