DUBAI (Sputnik) — The Russia-operated Airbus A321 that crashed in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula was fully functional prior to the tragedy, Vice President of Communications at Airbus Stefan Schaffrath said Tuesday.

"We can understand currently that there was no recommendation at the aircraft, meaning that the aircraft was not at fault, but of course we have to wait for the final results of the investigation," Schaffrath told RIA Novosti at the Dubai Airshow-2015.

Schaffrath added that Airbus had no information on where the reassembly of plane debris would take place, a decision to be made by Egyptian and Russian authorities.

On October 31, the Airbus А321, operated by the Russian airline Kogalymavia en route from the Egyptian resort of Sharm El-Sheikh to St. Petersburg, crashed in the Sinai Peninsula, killing all 224 people on board. The tragedy is the largest civil aviation disaster in Russian history.
