MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Tuesday, the delegation of the Russian Federation Council led by Matvienko, began its official visit to Brazil where it intends to discuss the development of inter-parliamentary relations, economic and cultural cooperation.
"I am absolutely confident that if the dynamic of economic cooperation within the BRICS will continue gaining momentum, the parliamentary involvement in it will be very seriously in demand," Matvienko said.
According to Matvienko, an active discussion of how this parliamentary dimension of cooperation will take place is underway.
"Perhaps, in the form of annual forums or the creation of the assemblies or some working groups on necessary areas of cooperation. But the fact that this cooperation, in whatever form it may take, will develop — there is no doubt about it," she stressed.
BRICS is an association of five major developing economies, comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.
