PARIS (Sputnik) — Paris and Tehran intend to sign a number of important bilateral agreements in different spheres during a visit of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to France, scheduled for November 17, the Elysee Palace press-office said Tuesday.

"The President [of France] will receive the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hassan Rouhani on November 17 on the occasion of his official visit to France… In this context, several agreements covering different spheres, in particular, political dialogue, economic cooperation, air transport, health and agriculture, will be signed by the French and Iranian ministers," the press-office said.

In September, Hassan Rouhani held a meeting with his French counterpart on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. During the meeting, Rouhani said that Iran welcomed the development of cooperation with France in political, economic and cultural spheres. According to him, the two countries could collaborate in fighting terrorism in the Middle East.

French President Francois Hollande, expressed support for the nuclear agreement that was signed in July in order to ensure the peaceful nature of the Iranian nuclear program and which stipulates the lifting of sanctions imposed upon the Islamic Republic.
