At least 16 people have been killed in heavy fighting between the supporters of the official government and ISIL, DWN wrote, referring to military reports.
The accident took place in the Libyan port city of Benghazi. During the fighting, the Libyan National Army had managed to recapture an airbase from ISIL, a military spokesman said on Wednesday.
Armed clashes between the forces loyal to Libya’s recognized government and the Islamists have been taking place in the Mediterranean city for more than one year.
If the clashes turn into a full-fledged civil war, this would lead to a humanitarian disaster and exacerbate the refugee crisis in Europe, the newspaper reported.
