MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A notorious Islamic State executioner, Mohammad Hamdoush, has been killed during a Syrian Army operation at the Kuweires military airport in the country's southeastern Aleppo province, local media reported Thursday.
According to Al Masdar News, Hamdoush, who became famous for filming himself while carrying out numerous killings of Syrian soldiers and civilians, was killed on Tuesday.
Hamdoush reportedly joined ISIL in 2014, moving from Morocco to Syria to fight under the command of the militant leader Sheikh Ibrahim Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi.
On Wednesday, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Gen.-Maj. Igor Konashenkov said Syrian government forces, with Russian aerial support, were able to free the Kuweires military airport in Aleppo, which had been besieged by ISIL for over two years.
Russia has been conducting precision airstrikes against the ISIL militant group positions in Syria at the request of President Bashar Assad since September 30.
