MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Kuwait Oil Company hopes that Russian energy giant Gazprom will participate in gas field developments in northern Kuwait, a spokesperson of the Kuwaiti company said Thursday.
"We plan to increase gas production in northern Kuwait, Gazprom, as a company with extensive experience and opportunities, could help us from the point of view of technological cooperation and field development," the spokesperson told RIA Novosti on condition of anonymity.
On Tuesday, Gazprom and Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, the parent company of the Kuwait Oil Company, signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the oil and gas sphere, as well as in the areas of scientific and technical cooperation and investment.
Kuwait Petroleum, Kuwait Oil and Gazprom experts will meet soon to discuss cooperation, the spokesperson added.
The Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) is a state-owned company, whose activities encompass petroleum exploration, production, petrochemicals, refining, marketing, and transportation.
