An allegedly leaked Russian plan appeared in multiple media outlets on Wednesday, stipulating early elections in the country among other measures.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The coalition leader of Syria’s Popular Front for Change and Liberation said Thursday that Russia had proposed several items on the Syrian settlement, and the criticism in the media in this regard was unfounded.

"Evaluations of the so-called Russian plan on the Syrian settlement, which was published in the press, are not objective. Russia has not developed a comprehensive and concrete plan but proposed several items on the settlement, so the criticism in the media in this regard is unfounded," Qadri Jamil said at a press conference.

On Tuesday, Jamil arrived in Moscow as part of the Syrian National Coordination Committee delegation, which includes members of various Syrian political parties as well as civic activists, for talks with officials from the Russian Foreign Ministry and Russian lawmakers.

Moscow has been involved in international efforts to resolve the ongoing civil war in Syria, hosting two rounds of negotiations between the government and the opposition in 2015.
