MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, Russian Foreign Ministry's Human Rights Ombudsman Konstantin Dolgov said Moscow had demanded the US Department of State to intervene in improving the health of Yaroshenko, who is suffering from severe heart pains.
"Not yet," Lavrov said, answering a question on whether Moscow had received an answer from Washington.
In 2011, the US authorities sentenced Yaroshenko to 20 years in prison for smuggling cocaine, claims the Russian citizen has denied. In early 2014, Yaroshenko, serving his sentence in New Jersey's Fort Dix prison, complained of severe chest pains and breathing problems. He was granted a medical examination only after numerous requests by his lawyer and Russian authorities.
Russian authorities have repeatedly expressed concern over the circumstances of Yaroshenko's arrest and the conditions of his detention.
