Israel’s High Court of Justice upheld orders on the demolition of five Palestinian homes at the same time rejecting an appeal against the practice of demolition of homes belonging to Palestinians as a punitive or deterrent measure, The Times of Israel reports.

TEL AVIV (Sputnik) – The Thursday ruling lifted a temporary injunction on the demolition of the homes issued by Justice Uzi Vogelman last month, the newspaper said citing a statement from the panel of judges, headed by court president Miriam Naor.

The buildings to be demolished are the homes of alleged West Bank murderers and Hamas members, The Times of Israel said, adding that original demolition orders for the homes were issued after Israel approved anti-terrorism measures, such as the demolition of homes as a deterrent measure.

The United Nations has raised concerns about the recent increase in Palestinian home destruction by Israel.
