WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The Russian Embassy to the United States has stepped up measures to ensure its security following Friday’s terrorist attacks in Paris, France, an Embassy spokesman told Sputnik.
“The security at the Russian Embassy in Washington, DC has been increased,” the spokesman said.
As many as 150 people were killed and more than 200 injured in the series of attacks in Paris on Friday, according to local media, but estimates of the dead and wounded varied and there were fears they could rise.
Washington, DC Metropolitan Police Department spokesman Sean Hickman told Sputnik earlier on Friday night that police have dispatched extra security around French-owned sites and other high-priority locations in the US capital.
