VIENNA (Sputnik) — A fresh round of Syria talks might take place on the sidelines of the upcoming 2015 UN Climate Conference in Paris (COP21), a diplomatic source at the Syrian talks in Vienna told Sputnik on Saturday.
From November 30 to December 11, France is scheduled to host and chair the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. The event is expected to result in the signing of a global agreement on climate change, introducing a legally binding and universal strategy on the issue.
"The next round of talks on Syria may take place within a month in Paris on sidelines of the Climate Conference," the source said.
Earlier in the day, a fresh round of international talks on Syrian reconciliation, which involve Russia, the United States, Iran and UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura, among others, was held in the Austrian capital.
According to the joint statement made by the international mediators of the Syrian crisis, the negotiators are expected to gather within a month to review progress in the implementation of ceasefire in the war-torn country, as well as the beginning of the political process.
