UN Chief, Turkish President Discuss Issues on Int'l Agenda Ahead of G20

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan have discussed the issues on the international agenda as Turkey prepares to host the 10th G20 summit.

UNITED NATIONS (Sputnik) – On November 15-16, the Turkish city of Antalya will host the 10th G20 summit. A number of expert and ministerial meetings is scheduled to take place during the event.

"The two leaders finally discussed the situation in Palestine, Libya and Cyprus, as well as issues related to climate change. The Secretary-General highlighted the importance to mobilize the G20 countries in order to achieve a meaningful and ambitious agreement in Paris," the United Nations said Saturday in a statement, adding that the officials also exchanged opinions on the situation in Syria.

The two leaders also condemned the Friday deadly attacks in Paris which claimed lives of 129 people.

"The Secretary-General expressed appreciation for the Turkish presidency of the G20, stressing that this Summit was happening in somber times that required unity of action," the statement said.
