MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Friday night, eight extremists wearing explosive belts attacked several venues across Paris, killing 129 people at restaurants, the Bataclan concert hall and in the vicinity of the Stade de France stadium.
"I, as the federal interior minister and as a politician of this country, have an urgent request to avoid making links hastily to the situation surrounding refugees," de Maiziere said in a meeting over the Paris attacks on Saturday, as quoted by the Spiegel newspaper.
Local media claimed that one of the perpetrators was a Syrian national who had entered France through Greece.
The European Union, in particular Germany, has been struggling to cope with a severe migrant crisis as hundreds of thousands of refugees flee war-torn regions of the Middle East and North Africa.
Accordion to the EU border agency Frontex, over 2.1 million illegal crossings have been detected at the bloc's borders since the beginning of 2015.
