MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Copenhagen has contributed several F-16 planes to the US-led coalition’s campaigns in Iraq. The jets returned to their home country in October for maintenance.
"What is needed is that we get Danish F16 fighters back as soon as possible. The government wants them to return with a broader mandate so that it becomes possible to fight the ISIL wherever they could be – whether it’s on one or the other side of the Syrian border," Jensen told the Berlingske on Sunday.
ISIL is a terrorist group that has seized vast areas in Syria and Iraq, and declared an Islamic caliphate on the territories under its control.
A US-led international coalition of some 6o nations has been launching airstrikes against ISIL targets since August 2014.
