MANILA (Sputnik) – The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit is widely seen a s the premier business event drawing together business and economic leaders of the Asia Pacific.
"This year's CEO summit in Manila is under the theme Creating the Future Better, Stronger Together," Tony Tan Caktiong, the summit's chairman said, opening the event.
He stressed that the CEOs and country leaders need to work out where to proceed from the current state of the APEC economies, and how they will ensure growth and inclusiveness in the future.
The summit, initiated in the Philippines in 1996, will take place until Wednesday. Over 700 CEOs from APEC's 21 economies are expected to participate in the event.
The summit will be followed by the annual Economic Leaders' Meeting of the APEC economies on November 18-19.
