BERLIN (Sputnik) – ISIL claimed responsibility for the November 13 coordinated evening attacks in Paris, in which extremists killed at least 132 people and injured over 350 at several locations, including restaurants, the Bataclan concert hall and in the vicinity of the Stade de France stadium.
"Words or arguments do not help against ISIL, and certainly sticking our head in the sand does not help, only planned action by the international community does," Steinmeier told Spiegel Online.
He added that the threat posed by the Islamic State could not be repelled by military means only, adding that a political solution to the Syrian conflict must be a priority for the international community.
Syria has been torn by civil war since 2011, with government forces countering so-called moderate armed opposition factions and several violent extremist groups, including Islamic State and the Nusra Front.
