Cameron has suggested that Britain should wait for a wider solution to Syria's civil war before launching air strikes against the Islamic State (ISIL) terrorist group.
Earlier in the day, the prime minister held a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Following the meeting, he stated that despite differences over Syria, compromises would have to be made for a settlement to be made over Syria's future.
The United Kingdom's Royal Air Force has been conducting air strikes against ISIL targets in Iraq since September 2014, after a successful parliamentary vote in support of the intervention.
In August 2013, Britain's parliament voted down Cameron's motion proposing military intervention against ISIL in Syria.
