WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The Friday terrorist attack in Paris, widely attributed to the Islamic State (ISIL), was not an isolated event, US CIA Director John Brennan said in a speech at the Center for Strategic International Studies on Monday.
"I would anticipate that this is not the only operation that ISIL has in the pipeline," Brennan said of the deadly terror attacks in Paris on Friday.
The Islamic State is "determined to carry out these types of attacks," Brennan warned, noting that the attacks in Paris were "deliberately planned," and likely coordinated over the course of "several months."
US and European security and intelligence agencies are currently working to track potential follow-on terrorist incidents. The Friday attacks in Paris claimed the lives of at least 132 people, according to the latest reports.
