LONDON (Sputnik) — The United Kingdom will increase the capability of its intelligence agencies by allocating them some two billion pounds ($3 billion) by 2020, UK Prime Minister David Cameron said.
"We need to do more to ensure our agencies have the resources and the information they need to prevent and disrupt plots against this country at every stage," Cameron said at the Lord Mayor's banquet on Monday.
The budget funds are expected to be spent on weapons, vehicles, helicopters, communications and night vision equipment.
The Prime Minister also reaffirmed his commitment to increasing national its intelligence agency staff by 15 percent.
The increase is expected to amount to 1,900, as the current staff amounts to a total of 12,700.
